Bank of Singapore has appointed Samuel Huen as global head of legal and regulatory compliance, effective October 2.

Huen will report to chief executive officer Jason Moo. He will be made a member of Bank of Singapore’s management committee.

Huen assumes the responsibilities from global head of legal Eric Teh and global head of regulatory compliance Adriel Loh. Teh will retire in 2024; Loh will focus on his role as OCBC’s group head of regulatory compliance. To ensure a smooth transition, Teh will continue as an adviser until March 2024.

As the global head of legal and regulatory compliance, Huen will be responsible for the full spectrum of legal and regulatory risks across Bank of Singapore and its subsidiaries in Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, Luxembourg, the United Kingdom, Malaysia and the Philippines.

A Singaporean, Huen joins Bank of Singapore after spending 18 years with UBS where he was a member of the Singapore management committee and led Group Legal Singapore in the last six years. Concurrently, he was the head of legal responsible for the global wealth management business in South Asia and Japan, including the credit and products legal teams in Hong Kong. He also previously oversaw the Taiwan wealth management legal team.

With more than 20 years of experience as a financial industry professional, Huen started his career as a Wall Street lawyer in the United States, representing various leading global investment banks and corporate clients.

Huen holds a master’s degree from Cornell Law School. He is also an alumnus of the executive programme at Harvard Law School.
