Amundi has reinforced its exchange-traded fund (ETF) team in Asia with new appointments as it focuses on growing its business in the region.

Sunny Leung has been appointed head of ETF indexing and smart beta sales, Asia ex-Japan, while Jeffrey Jeon has been named head of ETF indexing and smart beta sales, North Asia, reporting to Leung.

Leung and his team will focus on ETF business development across institutional and wealth segments in Asia ex-Japan.

Leung was head of ETF, indexing, and smart beta sales in North Asia from 2017 to 2019. He then led the South Asia ETF indexing and smart beta sales team from 2019 to 2023.

Before joining Amundi, he served at State Street Global Advisors Singapore, overseeing business development and client services for SPDR ETFs. He also held various ETF sales and marketing positions in Asia with Vanguard Investment Hong Kong, Credit Suisse Asset Management, and Lyxor Asset Management since 2007.

Leung holds a master of science in investment management from the University of Science and Technology of Hong Kong in 2012.

Jeon joined Amundi in September 2023. He is responsible for the development of the firm’s ETF business in mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Korea.

Prior to joining Amundi, he worked at BlackRock for 11 years in its Hong Kong and Seoul offices. In 2019, he joined the iShares Asia ex-Japan distribution team based in Hong Kong, where he was responsible for the development and execution of the iShares business strategy in Korea across institutional, wealth and asset management segments.

Before that, Jeon was a member of BlackRock’s institutional client business group in the Asia-Pacific region, where he was responsible for developing and maintaining institutional relationships with clients in Korea, including official institutions, public and private pension plans, and insurers.

Jeon earned a master's degree in global economy and strategy from Yonsei University in Korea, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from University of Toronto in Canada.
