UK lender Barclays has appointed Jean-Baptiste Patois as its head of equity derivatives, ex-strategic derivatives, for Asia-Pacific, with responsibility for leading exotics and flow derivatives.
Based in Hong Kong, he will report regionally to Hossein Zaimi, head of markets for Asia-Pacific, and functionally to Ashish Prabhudesai, global head of structured derivatives and non-US flow.
Patois joins the bank with a dynamic career in equity derivatives, having accumulated a wealth of knowledge and expertise over the years across several markets. He was most recently at Nomura in Hong Kong and led their Asia equity derivatives trading team. Prior to this, he was at Credit Suisse where he held a number of senior roles running their equity derivatives business across the region. Before relocating to Hong Kong in 2008, he was with Société Générale in New York, Paris and Tokyo.
“JB’s track record and expertise are exceptional,” Prabhudesai says. “His valuable industry experience will be a key driver as we continue to expand our global derivatives business in the region.”
