White & Case has expanded its global mergers and acquisitions (M&A) practice and global real estate industry group with the appointment of John Cahill as a partner. Cahill will spend his time between the law firm’s New York and Hong Kong offices.
“Real estate opportunities in Asia continue to present dynamic propositions to sophisticated investors,” says John Reiss, global head of M&A at White & Case. “Despite market headwinds, our clients continue to capitalize on real estate opportunities across the region, making Asia a strategically important market for our M&A team’s further growth. The addition of John fits squarely with this strategy. His depth of experience will provide invaluable support.”
Cahill advises borrowers, sponsors, and institutional investors throughout Asia and the United States on financing and M&A for real estate investments, with particular experience in the back-leverage market for real asset-focused funds and other investment vehicles. He also brings market-leading experience in real estate-focused private capital across Asia.
Cahill’s appointment continues the expansion of White & Case’s global M&A capabilities, following the recent addition of Taurie Zeitzer as co-head of the firm’s global private equity industry group in New York and Patrick Sarch, who rejoined the firm as head of the UK public M&A in London. Cahill’s addition also continues to build on the growth of the firm’s global investment funds capabilities, following the recent appointment of funds partners Omar Hemady in Boston, Phillip Sacks in Dubai, and Emily Brown in London.
