Brussels-based central securities depository Euroclear has appointed James Chang as its chief executive officer for the Asia-Pacific, effective December 1, following an onboarding period beginning in September.
Based in Hong Kong, Chang will lead Euroclear’s strategy across Asia-Pacific, the depository notes, supporting the continued growth and development of its business in this strategically important region.
He will report directly to Valérie Urbain, Euroclear Group’s CEO, and will join the group managing director community.
Chang brings more than two decades of leadership experience at PwC in Greater China. He led the firm’s consulting organization of more than 2,000 professionals and subsequently headed its financial services practice.
During his career he has built trusted relationships with senior executives across the region and a strong network within the financial services industry. Before joining PwC, he held financial roles at JPMorgan and Spear, Leeds & Kellogg, now part of Goldman Sachs.
“Asia-Pacific is a top strategic priority for Euroclear, and Chang’s appointment marks an important step in the continued development of our business in the region,” Urbain states. “His extensive leadership experience, deep understanding of financial services and strong relationships across Asia-Pacific will help us strengthen our local presence, support our clients and pursue new growth opportunities.”
